Knock on wood.

Except for 2000, when nearly an inch of morning rain delayed some festivities, it hasn’t rained more than a trace here on the Fourth of July for the past 10 years.

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and north-northeast wind at 10 mph becoming southeast.

It should be partly cloudy in the evening, with more clouds later in the night and a low of 63. There is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service searched its archives to produce these Fourth of July weather facts for Lincoln:

* Average high: 88.6 degrees

* Average low: 65.7 degrees

* Warmest high: 110 degrees (1936)

* Coldest high: 70 degrees (1915)

* Wettest Fourth: 2.44 inches (1909)
