A judge Thursday accepted a 26-year-old Lincoln man’s plea of no contest in the 2007 sexual assault of a teenage girl.

Lancaster County District Judge Steven Burns scheduled Arronson Wells for sentencing Aug. 7 on a charge of third-degree sexual assault of a child arising from the September incident.

Wells had faced up to 50 years in prison on a charge of first-degree sexual assault of a minor. He later agreed to plead no contest to the amended charge, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Prosecutors said Wells sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl inside a house near 14th and Judson streets. Abram Payan was sentenced by Burns earlier this year to 18 years to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting the girl.

Payan gave the girl alcohol and forced her at knife point to have sex with him, prosecutors said. After the assault, Payan asked Wells if he wanted to have sex with the girl, prosecutors said.
