Police say party crashers late Tuesday pulled out a gun and pointed it in the host's direction after being asked to leave.

Officer Katie Flood said it happened about 11:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Dakota Street, not far from 14th Street and Van Dorn Street.

A 20-year-old woman was having a party when the three uninvited guests stopped. When one of the host's friends asked them to leave, one of the three pulled out a semi-automatic Glock pistol and waived it in the direction of the host and other party-goers.

As she called police, they went to a car, then came back with a baseball bat, one of the men acting as if he was going to hit someone with it. Then they left, in a white four-door Intrepid.

No shots were fired and no one was hit with the bat.

Flood said the man with the gun and baseball bat was described as black, 6-foot-3, 225 pound about 20 years old with partially braided hair and wearing an orange-striped shirt. Descriptions were not as specific on the other two men.

" So you arrived uninvited and then turn around and have to act like a jerk. Get your own friends and have a party of your own. What a downer. "

" The article says the police were called and then the party crashers went to their car and came back. Why couldn't the police make it before they left. She must have told them they had a gun. I have heard of this happening before, where the police are slow to respond to this type of call. Did the police actually go looking for the men or did they stand around seeing if there were any violation they could get the partiers for? "

Hey old guy wrote on July 3, 2008 3:23 pm:
" Why would the police be slow to respond to this type of call? Usually, at least in Lincoln, it is the opposite. The officers respond quickly to preserve evidence, prevent injury and arrest those responsible. If the partiers received citations (as the woman was only 20), the Journal Star would have printed it. They did not. Instead, the LJS printed a description of the gun, the man holding it and the vehicle he left in. I'm sure the police hope that this information will lead to an arrest - since all their immediate efforts did not lead to locating the suspects. "

" Cops live for calls like this one 'OLD GUY'....chasing people, guns....

Slow response time? Ever herard of a shortage of cops, other crime going on, etc...... "

" this could of all happened in a matter of a couple of minutes, the cops can't just orb wherever they want it takes a little time to get there "

" Whenever some crime is reported, inevitably someone asks why the cops weren’t there right away or makes some comment about how crappy the LPD is, etc. (BTW I think LPD rocks!) Yet these same people ask LPD to cut their budget. I say raise my property tax or whatever tax that LPD’s budget is in!

I hope these dirt bags get caught! "
