Senate OKs naming Omaha FBI office after Exon
By The Associated Press
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has approved naming the FBI’s new Omaha field office in honor of Jim Exon, the former Nebraska governor and U.S. senator.
The resolution now goes to the House for consideration.
The new FBI office is under construction. Officials say it will give the FBI better security and, at 112,000 square feet, will double the agents’ space in Omaha.
A Democrat, Exon was Nebraska governor from 1971 to 1979 and served three terms in the U.S. Senate, from 1979 to 1997.
He died in 2005 at 83.
