Plastic bottle shatters windshield
Police are investigating an incident in which a plastic bottle hit the windshield of a moving car Monday on 33rd Street just south of South Street, causing glass to shatter and hit the driver.
A 66-year-old woman was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada southbound at approximately 30 mph around 3:50 p.m. when her windshield shattered, said Officer Katie Flood.
An investigating officer found a piece of clear plastic embedded in the glass of the woman’s windshield, and there was a 20-ounce plastic Gatorade bottle in a nearby yard, Flood said.
The woman received a small cut on her finger, Flood said. The damage to her windshield was estimated at $350.
The woman told police she thought the bottle came from a northbound vehicle that had passed her, but she couldn’t give a description of the vehicle, Flood said.
