Tell us about yourselves

We’re looking for your help for a couple of future stories. We want to hear about the lives of Lincolnites in two ways:

1. Tell us about yourself in six words.

About a year ago, a Web zine called smithmag.net started asked its readers to submit their six-word memoirs — to sum up their entire life using only six words. Smith got so many, they made a book out of the memoirs, which ranged from the heartbreaking to hysterical. Some examples:

“Cloudy with a chance of sun.”

“Hate being blonde; afraid to dye.”

“Not Quite What I Was Planning.”

2. Show us your diary.

We’re looking for the embarrassing, revealing and/or poignant “Dear diary” entries of your formative years. If we get several people to respond, we’ll compile some of the best entries in The (402) and give the writers a chance to talk about the kids they used to be.

If you’d like to take a stab at your six-word memoir or reveal a snippet of your former secret self, send your entries to mmertes@journalstar.com, along with your full name, age and contact info.
