Burke shuts down Southwest 9-0

Omaha Burke erupted for five runs in the fifth inning en route to a 9-0 victory against Lincoln Southwest in the final of the A-6 district baseball tournament in Omaha on Monday.

Leading 2-0, the Bulldogs put the game away with their scoring burst in the fifth.

Ben Heairet (2-2) shut down the Southwest offense, allowing just two hits.

Jake Vestecka took the loss for the Silver Hawks, who made three errors. Vestecka struck out two and lasted just  41/3 innings.

Tyler Shaw and Zach Weinandt each had two-RBI doubles for the Bulldogs, who will play Creighton Prep in today’s final.
