A 47-year-old Lincoln man died Friday after being thrown from his motorcycle on Highway 75 north of Plattsmouth.

The man, whose name has not been released, was driving northbound near the south end of the Platte River bridge just before 4 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle on loose gravel, according to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Then the 2003 Yamaha motorcycle hit the left guard rail. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and over the guard rail and between the northbound and southbound lanes.

Medical personnel from Bellevue took the man to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he died a short time later.

The victim did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his operator's license.

A friend on another motorcycle, riding with the victim, was not injured.
