Police: Girl hit by school bus
Police say a 12-year-old girl was hit by a school bus at 33rd and A streets at 7:08 a.m. Monday.
The bus driver told police the girl was on 33rd Street, crossing A Street from north to south when she was struck, said Officer Matt Tangen, who was at the scene.
The empty St. Teresa’s Catholic School bus was traveling south on 33rd Street and turning east onto A Street, Tangen said.
The girl may have suffered a broken ankle, Tangen said. She was able to talk to Lincoln Fire & Rescue personnel as they took her to a hospital.
At this point, Tangen said he did not think the 32-year-old bus driver would be cited, but police still needed to talk to the girl.
The driver was just starting his route at the time of the collision, Tangen said.
