Several blocks of downtown Lincoln were without power Saturday night after a tree fell on a transmission line near 22nd and P streets.

Lincoln Electric System spokesman Russ Reno said an area from L to R streets and from 10th to 20th streets was without power from just before 10 p.m. until about 11:30 p.m.

During the outage, several Lincoln Police officers worked to direct traffic and identify traffic lights that were not functioning.

" It was so weird, my husband and I were westbound on O at 27th waiting for the green light and my husband saw a flash (said it was lightning) and all the lights went out all the way down O to 16th. It was kinda eerie. "

" I am grateful for LES' prompt restoration of power, but the affected area was much larger than Reno stated. I live about five blocks from the area he described, and our whole neighborhood was dark. I did call and report the outage at my address, so LES should have a better record of what occurred. Anyway, thanks LES for coming out on that dark and stormy night... "
