More than 2,400 students are scheduled to receive degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in commencement exercises Friday and Saturday.

Doctoral degree candidates received their diplomas and hoods in a ceremony Friday at Kimball Recital Hall; baccalaureate and master’s degrees will be awarded at the main commencement exercises Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Law degrees will be awarded at the College of Law commencement exercises Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The graduates are from 44 states, 40 countries and the District of Columbia.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman will preside over the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral ceremonies. Steven Willborn, dean of the College of Law, will preside over the law ceremony.

Former Omaha World-Herald publisher John Gottschalk will address graduates and receive an honorary doctor of letters degree at the main commencement exercises, where philanthropist James C. Seacrest will receive the Builder Award from UNL. Azzeddine Azzam, professor of agricultural economics at UNL, addressed the doctoral graduates and Nebraska alum Lee C. White, former special counsel to presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, will address the law graduates.
