North Star likely to get wild-card bid
With Creighton Prep’s 6-3 victory against Omaha Burke Tuesday night in the District A-6 final, Lincoln North Star apparently has earned its first state baseball tournament berth.
The Navigators (18-8) lost to Lincoln Southeast 3-0 in Monday’s A-4 final at Sherman Field, but likely will edge Omaha Burke for the final wild-card spot and likely the No. 7 seed in the eight-team Class A tournament, which begins Saturday.
North Star is expected to face second-seeded Millard West (26-6) in a 7 p.m. contest at Sherman Field.
Southeast (18-7) is expected to be the sixth seed and would face Millard North (22-5) in a 4 p.m. game at Sherman Field.
