Man pleads no contest to Grand Island bar shooting
By The Associated Press
GRAND ISLAND — A man who wounded two bystanders in a Grand Island bar after a drug buy went sour has pleaded no contest.
Authorities say 31-year-old Gabriel Carson of Doniphan faces sentencing June 26 on charges of attempted first-degree murder and using a gun to commit a felony. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed two counts of second-degree assault and two more weapons charges.
Officers say Carson and a friend had gone to the bar on Jan. 25 to buy some cocaine.
They gave money to a man there, but the man later refused to give them any drugs or return the money.
Carson and his friend left, then returned with a handgun.
Officers say Carson fired twice into the building, giving two bar customers minor leg wounds.
