Man sentenced to life 2 days after arrest

OMAHA — Justice was swift for a man who has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of another — just two days after his arrest for the crime.

Bobby McCarther was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to the April 2007 murder of 26-year-old Gailyn Wright Jr. McCarther was arrested for the killing Monday as he sat in a Plattsmouth jail awaiting federal charges.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dropped drug charges against McCarther.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said he expects McCarther to spend his sentence in a federal prison.
