Tetrault awarded NCAA postgraduate scholarship

Nebraska senior gymnast Stephen Tetrault was awarded a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA for the winter sports season.

Tetrault, a graduate of Lincoln East, is a mathematics and pre-medicine major at NU. He carries a 3.73 grade-point average.

He was awarded the Nebraska male student-athlete of the year for his athletic and academic achievements.

Tetrault is a a three-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation academic honoree for NU. He is also a two-time College Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American, and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll six times.

He has also garnered several All-American honors for gymnastics.

Also receiving scholarships were Nebraska Wesleyan track standouts Holly Andrews and Evan Knight.

Andrews, a senior from Seward, majors in exercise science with a 3.99 grade-point average.

Andrews is a two-time NCAA Division III All-American in the hurdles. She placed third in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2008 Indoor Championships in March,  setting a new NWU school record. Andrews was also named the     NCAA Central Region athlete of the year in 2007.

Andrews plans to enter the Occupational Therapy program at South Dakota.

Knight, a graduate of Ogallala, carries a 3.99 in history and Spanish.   

He is a six-time All-American at NWU, and a member of the 2005 NCAA III Indoor national champion distance medley relay team.

A two-time Academic All-American, Knight will be studying Arabic in Tunis, Tunisia, this summer. He intends to pursue a doctorate in Spanish civilization and culture.
