* Nick Covey, who will be 21 next week, recieved a $200 fine Thursday for being a minor in possession of alcohol at a party in Lincoln. Police ticketed the junior linebacker March 7 after they were called to a loud party. Thursday, he pleaded guilty in Lancaster County Court and Judge Mary Doyle sentenced him.

* Former Husker linebacker Andrew Shanle was waived by the New York Giants. The St. Edward native joined the team’s practice squad in December.
