Andy Christensen, arrested on suspicion of sexual assault at a downtown bar last month, was in court briefly Thursday.

His attorney, Bob Creager, said his client wished to waive his right to a preliminary hearing. In exchange, prosecutors were to provide copies of police reports.

Seward County Judge Gerald Rouse bound over the case and set his district court arraignment April 30.

Aside from answering yes when Rouse asked if he was receiving treatment for any mental or emotional problems, Christensen said little. He stood in front of the court, twisting a pen in one hand.

Police arrested the Nebraska offensive lineman March 9 on suspicion of sexually assaulting a University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior at a downtown bar and resisting arrest.

Prosecutors later charged Christensen on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault, a charge that carries a possible one- to 50-year prison sentence.

The 23-year-old alleged victim says Christensen approached her at the Brass Rail, 1436 O St., and that when she turned away from him he reached under her skirt and assaulted her.

That same day, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini suspended him from the team indefinitely.

Christensen is out of jail on a $300,000 percentage bond.
