OMAHA — Douglas County health officials says a broken sewer line is sending raw sewage into a small waterway that feeds Papillion Creek.

The sewage could eventually makes its way to the Missouri River.

The amount of sewage spilled into the creek was not known Thursday, but health officials say it’s enough that those living along the waterway should stay out of the water. Those exposed could be susceptible to parasites, viruses or bacteria.

Officials expect the sewer line to be repaired by the end of the week.
