The Stars ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win in their first of a pair of games at Green Bay.

“We’ve played well but haven’t found ways to win, and tonight we did,” Stars coach Jim McGroarty said. “Green Bay played well tonight. They didn’t look like a team that wasn’t going to make the playoffs. Our guys hung in there and played hard.”

The Stars capitalized on a power play in the second period when Brandon Bollig scored, assisted by Ross Henry and Matt Bartkowski, to put the Stars up 1-0.

Danny Baco faked Green Bay goaltender Neil Conway and passed the puck from the top of the crease to Jason Gregoire who scored Lincoln’s second goal in the third period, which sealed Lincoln’s 2-0 victory. Gregoire is now tied for the USHL lead in goals (33).

“That was a beautiful play. Danny does that in practice all the time. I’m glad he was able to bring it over to the game,” McGroarty said.

The Stars are now tied with Sioux City for third place in the Western Division.

Goaltender David Reekie had his sixth shutout of the season, which ties a franchise record held by Phil Lamoureux in 2001-02.

“He’s been our rock the whole year,” McGroarty said. “His stats speak for themselves.

“He’s lost a few close ones in the last couple games, and it’s not because of him, it’s because of our specialty teams. But they did a good job tonight, getting a goal on the powerplay and killing off the penalties.”

Lincoln will take on the Gamblers again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
