Lincoln man gets 10 years for meth distribution
Edward McCarthy of Lincoln was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to 10 years and 10 months in prison, plus five years supervised release, for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Lincoln over a nearly two-year period.
McCarthy, 34, was held responsible for distributing between 12½ and 18 ounces of meth between January 2005 and November 2006. He was arrested in January 2006 by Lincoln police and was found to be in possession of approximately 1/8 ounce of meth.
He is serving a sentence of 20 months to five years in state prison for that offense; his federal prison sentence will run concurrently with the remainder of the state sentence. He also was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.
