Police press for charges in school fires
SCOTTSBLUFF — Scottsbluff police are pressing for arson charges against three students accused of setting fires at their high school.
Officer Steve Wescher says two girls were likely responsible for a fire Thursday morning in a women’s restroom at Scottsbluff High School. And, he says, a male classmate likely started another fire between the second and third floors about the same time.
The students’ names are being withheld pending formal charges.
The school was evacuated briefly while the fires were put out and the building ventilated.
