Omaha baby sitter accused of injuring infant
OMAHA — Omaha police have arrested a baby sitter on suspicion of felony child abuse.
A police news release says officers responded to the report of an injured child Wednesday and found the 25-year-old baby sitter and a 3 1/2-month-old infant.
The baby was taken in critical condition to an Omaha hospital for treatment of her head injuries, including a fractured skull.
The sitter told officers that she tripped over an ottoman while holding the baby.
But authorities determined that the baby’s injuries didn’t match the sitter’s account and were the result of intentional abuse.
