A Lincoln Police dog helped officers find two teenage shoplifting suspects early Thursday.

The teenagers allegedly grabbed several bottles of liquor and ran for the door at Sun Mart Foods, 1340 W. O Street, around 2:32 a.m., Officer Katie Flood said.

An employee tried to detain them, and a bottle of Tanqueray gin was dropped and broken before the suspects were able to flee the store with two bottles of E&J brandy, Flood said.

Police established a perimeter in the area, and Officer Tyler Dean and his German shepherd, Kony, found the suspects in a nearby backyard on the 200 block of West 16th Street, Chief Tom Casady said.

Kion Jackson, 18, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft, minor in possession of alcohol, disturbing the peace and trespassing, Flood said.
