NU to send eight wrestlers to NCAA meet
The Nebraska wrestling team, which finished second at the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, will send eight wrestlers to the NCAA Championships March 20-22 in St. Louis.
In addition to league champions Jordan Burroughs (149 pounds), Paul Donahoe (125) and Brandon Browne (174), Stephen Dwyer (165) and Craig Brester (197) will wrestle for Nebraska at nationals.
Three other Huskers, heavyweight Jon May, Vince Jones (184) and Kenny Jordan (133), earned wild-card selections to the NCAA meet in a vote of league coaches.
Burroughs, who entered the Big 12 meet seeded first and lived up to his billing with two bonus-point victories, was named the meet’s outstanding wrestler.
GOLF: Nebraska’s Kate White shot a final-round 79 to jump into a tie for 24th place at the Texas A&M “Mo” Morial. The Huskers finished 13th out of 15 teams. Michigan State won the team title.
