Malcolm teacher faces misdemeanor assault charges

The Lancaster County Attorney’s Office filed misdemeanor charges Tuesday against a 33-year-old Malcolm High School industrial arts teacher.
Jason Cunningham, of 8420 Sandalwood Drive in Lincoln, faces two counts of third-degree sexual assault. Each count carries a sentence of up to a year imprisonment.
Cunningham has taught at the school for two years and is on administrative leave. He is set to be arraigned Feb. 27.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office the allegations came out in January. An 18-year-old alleged Cunningham touched her inner thigh at the high school in October. Another alleged he rubbed her inner thigh while in a vehicle returning from a school event in late August or early September.
