Record review: Rhonda Vincent, "Good Thing Going"

With back-to-back performances at the first two Nebraska Bluegrass Festivals, Rhonda Vincent has developed a strong following in Lincoln.
Those fans, and bluegrass fans in general, will be pleased with Vincent’s latest CD effort.
Her new 12-song disc, “Good Thing Going,” is a fun and entertaining mix of traditional and original bluegrass pieces as well as a few works with more of a country flavor.
A special treat is a duet with country’s Keith Urban on “The Water Is Wide,” a moving Irish song.
Vincent is known as a player, vocalist and bandleader. This disc shows another side to her: songwriter. The CD features five works written or co-written by the musician.
The best of the bunch are “I’m Leavin’,” a hip, fast-paced song that opens the CD, and the title track, which Vincent wrote about her relationship with her husband.
“Good Thing” is a strong effort. Vincent’s fans will be quite pleased with it. Here’s hoping she makes her way through Lincoln again soon so we can hear some of the cuts live.
