NU women finally win in Ames

AMES, Iowa — At the end of a frustrating, decade-long streak, there was an exclamation for the Nebraska women’s basketball team.
Not only did the Huskers win for the first time in 11 trips to Hilton Coliseum on Saturday night, but their 82-72 victory against Iowa State marked the first time in 25 games that the Cyclones had lost when scoring at least 70 points.
If Connie Yori can’t savor that effort — which included five players scoring in double figures and an 11-for-19 performance from three-point range from a bunch that ranked last in the Big 12 in three-point percentage — then NU’s coach might be incapable of celebrating.
Saturday’s wire-to-wire win left her team 14-4 overall and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State, which was playing for the first time since losing forward Nicky Wieben to a season-ending knee injury, fell to 12-5, 1-3.
