Authorities believe a 19-year-old Beaver Lake man fell asleep behind the wheel early Tuesday morning, causing a two-vehicle accident near Plattsmouth.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the injury accident in the area of U.S. 75 and Mill Road at 5:29 a.m.

Gary P. Parsons Jr. was driving a silver 2003 Dodge pickup south on U.S. 75 when he crossed the center line and collided with a northbound black 2003 Chevrolet ZR2 utility vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was taken by Murray Rescue to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Cinderella M. Sweeney, 53, also of Beaver Lake, and a passenger in her vehicle both refused treatment.
