The owner of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee told police he left it running outside his Southeast Lincoln home while he made a stop at a friend’s house on 52nd Street and South Bristolwood Lane. About five minutes later, he heard the SUV squealing out of the driveway, Sgt. Tom Towle said.

Seconds later, he heard a crash about two blocks east.

A resident at a home on the 5400 block of South Bristolwood Lane heard the sound, too, and found the Jeep crashed into his garage, according to a police accident report.

Officers on scene caught and arrested Rogelio Advincula, a 25-year-old transient, on a warrant from another law agency. He told police he was not driving the Jeep, but there were no calls out to attempt to locate other suspects in the case, Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said Monday.

Damage to the SUV is estimated at $5,000. The garage sustained about $10,000 damage. Police believe the Jeep also did about $1,000 damage to a car parked in front of the garage.
