Officers remained on the lookout Sunday for one of two men seen running from a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee stolen in Southeast Lincoln Saturday night.

The owner of the Jeep told police he left it running outside while he made a stop at a friend’s house on 52nd Street and South Bristolwood Lane. About 5 minutes passed before he heard the SUV squealing out of the driveway, Sgt. Tom Towle said.

Seconds later, he heard a crash about two blocks east.

A resident at a home on the 5400 block of South Bristolwood Lane heard the sound, too, and found the Jeep crashed into his garage, according to a police accident report. Two men ran from the Jeep.

Officers on scene caught and arrested Rogelio Advincula, a 25-year-old transient, on a warrant from another law agency. He told police he was not driving the Jeep.

Police had not yet found the other man seen running from the Jeep, Towle said Sunday.

Damage to the SUV is estimated at $5,000. The garage sustained about $10,000 damage. Police believe the Jeep also did about $1,000 damage to a car parked in front of the garage.
