Residents of The Links at Lincoln apartment complex reported two burglaries police believe happened Friday evening.

Certificates of deposit valued at $10,000, electronic items and jewelry were taken from one apartment at the complex on Fletcher Avenue, just east of U.S. 34. The value of items taken from the apartment was estimated to be $17,000.

Burglars may have been interrupted during the second burglary as police arrived at the scene of the first break-in.

A glass window was smashed at another apartment in the complex, though nothing was stolen. Damage to the window is estimated at $100. Saturday afternoon, the window was still unrepaired, covered by duct tape and cardboard.

At least 22 burglaries have been reported at the Links since August. Losses and damages total at least $36,240 and $1,345, respectively.

Links management referred questions to its company’s main office in Fayetteville, Ark. An official there Saturday said he was waiting until Monday to comment.

" No up grade on security.(cameras) The management of the Links said they did not want to impose on their residents freedoms. Glad I don't live there. "

" This is Ridiculous!! It's one of the nicest apartment complexes Lincoln has to offer, but with the crime and the poor management I'll be leaving as soon as my lease is up and will not be recommending any one to lease here. Hopefully I'm still alive and have my stuff! "

Kick Back wrote on November 25, 2007 3:56 pm:
" Maybe they didn't want cameras, becaue they could be getting kickbacks from their burglars. Are the burglars regular employees of The Links, you know, "Wanted: Part-time apartment burglar, flexible hours, weak security, master keys provided,profit-sharing plan with kickbacks to mangement". "

" When for goodness sake are they going to realize in Arkansas that the management in Lincoln stinks!! We need security. We need to feel safe again. There are too many robbies not to believe that they are not an "inside" job. The tenants are the losers and the owners are the winners. I was told at the end of October that there was a security guard hired and they were in the process of hiring another one. It is November, where are they? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring some attention to this apartment complex publicly to stop the management from ruining a nice complex. Too many "master" keys have been made and never returned. SOMETHING needs to be done Lindsey Management!! Tenants call them 1-800-482-1618 and complain, complain, complain, and complain some more. Surely a lot of voices will make a difference? "

LPD Take Action wrote on November 27, 2007 9:36 am:
" It is time that the Lincoln Police Department take action and investigate the management. It is so obvious that these burglaries are inside jobs. "

" We have lived at the Links for six months and have been disappointed by several things. Yet, we overlooked many of the downfalls, like are alarms going off when no one was home, because of the atmosphere. We love opening our blinds to a beautiful lake and golf course. But, this seems to be getting way out of hand!! We are now being told that we will live in a gated community. But what if it's not someting outside the gates but someone right inside? We will never feel secure in our apartment again! I have a 9 month old son and if someone broke in while we were asleep... I don't know what I would do. We are not being let out of our lease and the manegment seems uncaring. The only thing we can do is discourage anyone else from moving into this "community." We could find a nicer place for alot less than $895 a month!! "

" For those people living at the Links you dont need to wait until you lease is expired. At this point in time they have not met the requirments of the land lord and can not make tenets stay there if you do not feel safe. Until the managment does something, nobody has to keep their lease "
