A 76-year-old Lincoln woman died around 6 p.m. Friday after the minivan in which she was a passenger struck a tractor’s rear attachment on U.S. 77.

Sgt. Tom Trotter of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said a 78-year-old Lincoln man was driving the minivan north on U.S. 77 near Princeton when the accident occurred.

Trotter did not release the identities of the man or the woman, who died at the scene.

He said the 78-year-old man was life-flighted to BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln in serious condition, though his wounds were not life threatening.

He said a Hallam man who was driving the tractor on the shoulder of the highway that the minivan struck was not injured. He did not identify the Hallam man.

Both the man and the woman in the minivan were wearing seatbelts, Trotter said.
