Tell us about the best, the worst, the cleanest, the nastiest, the most improved, the hardest to find, ones with interesting features ... and any others that stand out for one reason or another.

" the fanciest, most decorative, and possibly the largest bathroom in lincoln has to be the one in von maur department store at southpointe. a person could set up housekeeping in this bathroom! it's worth a trip to the store just to see the bathroom. the restroom in the food court at westfield/gateway mall isn't as decorative as the one in von maur, but they've done a nice job of providing lots of room, family space, access, and it's clean and well supplied. i would say this bathroom is most improved. on a smaller scale, the bathroom at bagels & joe on old cheney road (near 48th street) is very pretty and clean...some nice artwork and a good color scheme. check this out even if you don't have to "go!" as for worst bathrooms...well, i think most filling station bathrooms could use a lot of improvement. cleaning them would be a start. those nasty deodorant things they stick inside the toilet tanks need to go too...they do not make up for uncleanliness. filling station owners could take note of the bathroom at ihop (east on highway 2 across from walmart). the bathroom there is not fancy, but it's very clean, odorless, and has a nice, crisp color scheme (green and white tile, i think). all in all, i think most of lincolns bathrooms are well maintained and adequate. there are plenty of them, and, unlike in many european countries, they are free! " The bathroom that needs lots of disinfecting would have to be the bathroom at WC's South. "

" I agree, vonMaur's is the best. The worst I've seen lately was in a suprising location - at Northeast High School. I've never seen a school restroom look like this. Visiting for a volleyball tourney, we guests found dust bunnies in corners the size of a fist, brown gunk around the sink edges and faucets, and caked-on dirt in all the corners, also. Our girls all noticed, and I heard the comment, "I think I'd get fewer germs not washing my hands, than I'd get washing in that sink," and I'm sorry for the kids and staff who must daily use these facilities. Their janitors need to do better. "

" The WORST public restroom I have ever been in is at Great China Super Buffet at 61st & "O" st. It smells awful, the paint is peeling, stall doors have huge gaps in them and don't close properly, and it is FILTHY!!! If I had gone to the restroom before eating, I n e v e r would have eaten there...I am not a squimish person & I was grossed out! "

" I would also have to mention the restrooms in Von Maur and Westfield mall as having the best bathrooms in town (at least, that I've seen). HuHot's bathroom is usually very clean with a nice cinnamon scent and vibrant color scheme. However, both Wal-Marts bathrooms are atrocious. "

" The restrooms at Office Max at South Point are nasty. I know for a fact that they only get tp and towels everyday and that there is rarely any cleaning solution used. "

" The bathroom at Libations II at Edgewood is my favorite. It has lots of creative/funny/somewhat inspiring thoughts on the wallpaper. They are always very clean and there's a basket on the counter with perfumes, personal items, etc. Love it! "

" I am interested to read this article when it comes out. I would agree with the comment about the worst being the china buffet across from gateway as having a restroom in poor repair as well as in need of a good cleaning. It may just be that since it is in such bad repair the attitude is why clean it. I like the restrooms at Granite City, always clean and a neat little bath and body works menu of choices for hand cleansing. :) "

" Lazlo's in the Haymarket are pretty cool--it may be because they inherited them from Fireworks. The new Fireworks has fancy bathrooms too! I like the sinks and the faucets. Plus, the lighting isn't fluorescent so it's much more flattering than when I look in the mirror at work. "

" Yes I'd agree Great China Super Buffet at 61st & "O" st is one of the nastiest bathrooms...another is Walmart on 27th and Superior. I've seen toilets in there where it looks like someone crapped on the front of it...its so gross! Von Maur is nice and HuHot. For a bar, the Watering Hole on Coddington and A is pretty nice. Shopko on 66th & O that was redone, I was impressed because it smelled clean and looked clean, not like the one on 27th and Cornhusker. I hate those toilets that flush so hard water sprays up on the seat! "

Shopper wrote on October 24, 2007 9:21 am:
" Walmart on 27th street is terrible. It seems like people don't know how to properly use a toliet. Cringe. Von Maur is probably the nicest. "

" One bathroom that suprised me is Menards North. Being a hardware store you'd think they would have the hardware and tools necessary to MATCH and correctly hang materials. One of the hand dryers is hanging onto broken green tile, with the bolts showing. One soap dispenser for three sinks. It's terrible for a hardware store, which SELLS these things, pretty tacky if you ask me. "

" Cleanest bathroom ever in the history of gas stations has to be at On the Go at 48th and Hwy 2. I could eat off the floor in there, no problem. Worst bathroom in Lincoln easily Walgreen's at 70th and O. It smelled awful and there was "stuff" running down the front, trash all over the floor, trash can over flowing...nasty. All I could think was breathe through your mouth...and get out FAST! "

" the girls bathroom at the CoHo is pretty nasty. It seems like every time I go in there, the toilet looks like it's been used by 20 different people without flushing. "

" Well have not been to VonMaur, can't afford it. But in general the Village Inns in Lincoln, all of them GROSS. So I hardly ever go to one. Oh and some of these smaller conveniece gas stations, they store food in there for gosh sake. Wonder what the health department thinks of that? They are so concerned with food prep--they need to look at the entire facility. Most of the major hotels I have been in for meetings are very nice and clean. "

" The bathroom (at least the ladies room) at the 56th street SuperSaver is vile. I once mistakenly tried to use it while pregnant and thus needing to go every 10 minutes and I nearly threw-up. It's not like there arn't any cleaning supplies in the store! Grab some bleach and get to scrubbing. "

Grossed out by public bathrooms wrote on October 25, 2007 8:17 am:
" So many of the public bathrooms do not enter and leave in the correct manner for healthy and clean hands. Most the handle to leave is on the inside rather than push to open like with to or shoe, and entrances are the opposite, all bathrooms should have a swinging door that opens either way, of course this would cause some confusion but it would be more sanitary as some people never wash when they leave. I do not use a public bathroom unless absolutely necessary, even the ones mention above have so many faults that the germs from entering and leaving them would just destroy any kind of cleaning one would do to hands prior to leaving. Sanitary bathrooms and safe enviornments have not been created to date for public use and that is part of the problem with our society and the unhealthy people using them, we all are effected by their filth and smuck. "

" My vote for the nastiest bathroom in Lincoln would have to be the men's room at Bennett Martin Library. It's been awhile since I've been there, so I can't offer specifics, but I remember being horrified by what I saw and smelled. "

jmr wrote on October 26, 2007 9:10 am:
" the ladies room bathroom at bennet martin library is pretty dirty too. the bathroom at the gere library is much better. the downtown bathroom really needs to be maintained better. the bathrooms at the downtown SECC aren't bad for public bathrooms...pretty clean and lots of room. "

" Let's see - cleanest..... that's kind of a challenge.... actually probably Starbucks out across from South Pointe.... they do a really good job keeping things cleaned regularly. The Walmart bathrooms at the south store are really nasty too!!!! I have been in there when there have been USED feminine hygiene products on the floor and the manager has been in within the last 15-30 minutes to check it off as being clean that day I actually went up to the customer service desk to tell them it was so bad and the gal acted like it was no big deal. I agree with people about the chinese buffet just plain nasty... the other REALLY bad one is Shopko at 27th and Hwy 2.... the bathrooms are dark, the floors are NASTY and there is always stuff on the walls of the stalls. "

L wrote on October 26, 2007 2:05 pm:
" The dirtest restroom I have visited recently would be the Burger King at 48th & Van Dorn. one of the stalls had #2 all over the toilet and walls. It was horrible. The rest of the bathroom was almost as bad. "
