" Yup - Local Radio sucks. There are only a few formats around, so you're SOL if you want something other than the crap that's offered. I go the CD route frequently too. " The only Lincoln station worth while is 105.3 KLNC they play back to back songs and give traffic and weather reports in the morning. You can listen all day and not hear a repeat and talk about variety they play all the songs that I grew up with from Johnny Cash to Foghat and everything in between. KZUM?? they are aweful they play all sorts of weird stuff like Polka and they always are talking and dont have any traffic or weather reports etc. I also like power 106.9 from Omaha but you can oonly pick it up in North Lincoln. 107.3 is a little better these days but I say 105.3 beats them all. " Wow lincoln radio is alot worse than in other cities becasue the local stations do not update and change their formats. Lincoln's radio stations are set up so they do not have to heavly compeate and update their music. The major stations all have niches and enough listerns that they coexist. Alot of people just listen to Omaha. Why would I want to listen to an local station that has had the same or simliar DJ's, music, ads for more than five years. I can just listen to my ipod and listen to what I want. "

" The other reason that Lincoln radio is not the best is that all the stations in Lincoln are similar, they are sucessfull. In Omaha and most cities the best stations happen becasue the other staions do really poorly or are failing. Lincoln has the same problem with TV stations. "

We do listen to CDs and then at work, I do that free online Pandora radio where you can make a station based around a certain song or artist that you like. " Well, in reading the comments on this page, I realize that most people have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to radio. I have been in radio since high school. and am now a program director at a radio station in Northern Indiana. Here's the down low on radio: It's all about ratings, market research music, and advertising dollars. Variety in radio is gone, and when you give the listener the chance to request something, or be heard, they ask for the same thing that's in the station's rotation. Top 40 radio stations like KFRX are probably playing 250 active titles at any given time, and the songs that are in the top 40 according to Billboard or whoever, will get 90 spins a week. For those of you who listen to your cd's and ipod's, how much of that is the same stuff on at least on or more of the radio stations in Lincoln?? People also think that if you don't play what's on there mix cd in the order on the disc, that that station sucks. Almost all radio, whether it's Satellite, internet, or otherwise is formatted in some way or another. Not all of it, but 99% of it. Just food for thought from a guy that's in the radio business. "
