The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will take part this weekend in the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign to promote the use of seat belts and child restraint systems.

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will pay for the overtime of the additional deputies working during the mobilization through a mini-grant not to exceed $7,726, said Sheriff Terry Wagner.

A high visibility safety checkpoint will be conducted this Friday on Nebraska 2 between 120th Street and 134th Street from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Afterward, deputies will continue enforcement efforts on an individual basis until midnight.

On Saturday and Sunday, additional deputies will take part in saturation patrol in the area of Nebraska 2 between Lincoln and 190th Street.

" I thought in the state of Nebraska, you could only receive a ticket for a seat belt violation was if you were pulled over for some other violation. Seat belts are a secondary ticket. "

" Come on now, some people are just lazy. I bet a lot of people that know about the checkpoint will put them on before getting to it, then take it off once passed. "
