Nebraska volleyball matches against Penn State at Qwest Center Omaha and Hawaii at the Devaney Sports Center will be included in season-ticket packages, NU officials confirmed Monday.

Nebraska, the defending national champion, will play 18 home matches this fall, beginning with two matches in the AVCA Showcase at Qwest Center Omaha that are not included in season-ticket packages. Tickets for that event are available through Ticketmaster.com.

Seven of Nebraska’s eight 2007 nonconference opponents were NCAA qualifiers last season, a group headlined by potential AVCA Showcase foe UCLA and former national champions Penn State and Hawaii.

Nebraska will face the Nittany Lions on Sunday, Sept. 2, at Qwest Center Omaha as part of the Huskers’ annual Labor Day Tournament. The Huskers face Hawaii in a regular-season match Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Devaney Center.

“We applaud the teams like Hawaii and Penn State that wanted to come here and help us create great events that this sport needs,” Nebraska coach John Cook said in announcing his team’s 2007 schedule.

Nebraska’s annual Players Challenge will be played over two days (Sept. 7-8), with Duke, Louisville and New Mexico State completing the field. Nebraska’s Big 12 schedule opens with a key match against Texas on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Season-ticket renewals will be mailed in May, officials said.
