Family farmers in four Nebraska counties can apply for low-interest emergency loans to help recover from physical and production losses caused by drought, high temperatures and other problems.

The loans may cover up to 100 percent of actual production or physical losses, to a maximum of $500,000. The current rate: 3.75 percent.

According to a news release from the Farm Service Agency, operators in Cedar, Dixon and Dakota counties in northeast Nebraska are eligible because of the combined effects of drought, a late spring frost, wildfires, hail, wind and insect damage.

Farmers in Sioux county in northwest Nebraska are eligible because that county is next to four Wyoming counties that experienced drought and high temperatures.
