An Omaha man will be a part of MTV’s hit reality series “The Real World” when it premieres its 18th season Nov. 22.

Tyrie Ballard, 23, a 2001 Omaha Northwest graduate and former University of Nebraska-Lincoln student, will join six other 20-somethings on “The Real World: Denver.”

“I didn’t do anything I wouldn’t normally do,” Ballard joked in a recent phone interview to promote his appearance. “I never tried to impress anybody. It’s just me being me.”

"The Real World" is the longest-running reality series in TV history, debuting in 1992 in New York City.

Each season features seven young strangers living together in a new city. MTV rolls the camera 24/7 in order to witness their lives intersect.

Past seasons have taken place in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas, Paris, San Diego, Philadelphia, Austin and Key West.

Ballard is the fourth known person from Nebraska to participate in a reality show.

Lincoln’s Diane Ogden and Omaha’s John Carroll participated in the third and fourth “Survivors” (CBS), respectively, while Tina Barta of Crete appeared on MTV’s “Road Rules.”

“Real World” will be Ballard’s second reality show appearance. He was one of rock musician Tommy Lee’s fraternity brothers on NBC’s “Tommy Lee Goes to College.”
