Trojan to watch: John David Booty

No. 10 John David Booty, 6-3, 210, quarterback
Much of the pregame discussion has centered on Southern California’s talented cast of wideouts.
Well, somebody has to deliver the ball to them.
Booty, who graduated a year early from high school and enrolled at USC, served as a reserve the past three seasons. The fourth-year junior made his first start in the Trojans’ only game this season, a 50-14 dismantling of Arkansas on Sept. 2 in Fayetteville, Ark.
A native of Shreveport, La., Booty completed 24 of 35 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
“He was an epitome of poise in that game, and I would expect the same this week,” said USC coach Pete Carroll. “He is just a very calm, composed kid. But you know, he hasn’t had a lot of problems yet. There wasn’t a lot of adversity in that (Arkansas) game.”
Nebraska hopes to show Booty some adversity in the form of intense pressure in the pocket. For one thing, pressuring Booty might relieve some stress on the Huskers’ secondary.
As the backup to Matt Leinart last season, Booty completed 27 of 42 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He appeared mostly in mopup duty.
