Proposed spending cuts

*K-12 education, $62.7 million — includes cuts to Reading First,  Even Start, Title I school reform, programs for migrants and neglected and delinquent students, special education and school improvement programs.

*Vocational and adult education, $44 million.

*Children and family services, $43 million, 500-700 fewer children served by Head Start —  includes Community Services Block Grant, Head Start, services for abused and neglected children.

*Community Development Block Grant formula grants,

$29 million.

*Low-income home energy assistance, $17.6 million.

*WIC (Women, Infants and Children), $12 million, leaving about 2,400 recipients not served.

*Public housing capital fund for repair, $10 million.

*EPA drinking water revolving funds, 9.7 million.

*Child care and development block grants, $5.9 million.

*Commodity Supplemental Food Program, leaving 11,600 seniors, 1,300 women, infants, children unserved. Program would be lost in FY2007.

*Social Services Block Grant, $3 million.
