Lincoln Internet model cited for nudity

A Lincoln woman, who made headlines in 2003 when she was ticketed for naked Internet pictures of herself taken in a downtown Lincoln bar, was ticketed again Wednesday for public nudity.

On Saturday, Melissa Harrington, 23, kicked off a wet T-shirt contest promotion at Cheerleaders Bar, 5560 S. 48th St. When officers visited the bar, they saw Harrington hosting the show, nude from the waist up, said Lincoln police Capt. David Beggs.

Police say she violated the part of the city ordinance that prohibits the “showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering on any part of the areola and nipple.”

Harrington said she will contest the ticket, which is a misdemeanor. She is set to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. April 13, she said.

She said her nipple and areola were covered with a light-to-medium pink paint. That night, she said, police officers didn’t ticket her and one officer told her he agreed her breasts were covered, she said.

“I’m going to fight this all the way to the end,” she said. “They harass me all the time at my promotions.”

Harrington said she has no plans to change her routine for future promotions because she isn’t doing anything wrong.
