OMAHA — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced it will give nearly $1 million to help low-income families in Nebraska with their heating bills.

The Bush administration announced Thursday it would release $100 million in emergency home heating aid.

Nebraska will get more than $980,000 as part of emergency funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, called LIHEAP.

Both Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., issued news releases saying the money would help Nebraskans deal with high heating costs during the cold, winter months.
