Solich not ruling out joining an NFL staff
Former Nebraska football coach FrankSolich says he loves the college game but isn't ruling out the possibility of joining the pro ranks.
Solich told Kevin Kietzman of SportsRadio 810 WHB in Kansas City, Mo., that he's not closing the door to any opportunities.
"I enjoyed college coaching so much," Solich said, "but if something would open up on the professional level, and it would seem to fit for everybody, then who knows?"
Solich was a guest on Kietzman's show "Between the Lines," talking with Kietzman live from Kauffman Stadium for about 20 minutes Wednesday afternoon. Solich has been visiting with Kansas City Chiefs football coaches this week.
"They've been great," Solich said. "I've had a chance to get into their meetings and study film a little bit with them and watch practice with them. It's been a very valuable experience for me."
Solich, who visited four college campuses during the spring practice season, also attended a mini-camp with the Indianapolis Colts. He said he will visit the Chiefs again.
"I think pro ball is very intriguing," Solich said. "They have a great deal of time they're able to spend directly on football."
Also in the interview, Solich wished luck to the new Nebraska coaching staff and said he was happy Colorado coach Gary Barnett apparently will be reinstated as head coach.
Kietzman asked Solich if he'd enjoy landing a head college coaching job, with a chance of beating Nebraska.
"Well, there's a few people I wouldn't mind lining up against in the program,"Solich said, "but other than that, I just have so much respect for that program, and in general, the people in that program."
