Beerys leave; Heritage names interim management
The first two employees of Heritage Administration Services Inc. have left the firm, it was announced Friday.
President Rod Beery and his son R.J. "have decided to concentrate their talents and efforts in marketing Heritage's products and others," the company said in a letter to its agents and dealers. The letter said the Beerys will form a new agency. Neither could be reached for comment.
The firm has named Steve Goodrich, Peter Knolla and Ron Uhing as an interim management team. The trio has started the search for a new president, the letter said.
The decision was announced on the heels of a Friday board of directors meeting at which, a board member said earlier, the departure of the elder Beery was on the agenda.
James Daubert said on Thursday there would "be an active discussion" of the Beery situation. He did not return phone calls.
The company recently lost a case in Lancaster County District Court alleging that it violated business agreements with an Arizona service contract provider. Heritage has pledged to appeal that decision, which resulted in an $855,487 jury award to National Programs Inc.
