Five college teams we hate

1. Notre Dame. The football team has been irrelevant for a number of years, yet the Irish still dominate headlines, sports talk shows and NBC on Saturdays.

2. Ohio State. Any school pretentious enough to place "the" before its name deserves to be on the list.

3. Duke. Does anybody whine more to officials than coach Mike Krzyzewski? Well, maybe his players do.

4. USC. Sports hacks keep telling us the Trojans are as good as some NFL teams, yet they haven't won a national title for five years.

5. Nebraska. We know it hurts, but many out there are appalled by how much stock the people in this state put into this football program.

Five college teams Husker fans hate

1. Colorado. Unruly fans. Bill McCartney. Rick Neuheisel. Woody Paige. 1989, 1990, 2001, 2004 and 2007. Enough said.

2. Missouri. Unruly fans. Back-to-back embarrassing losses. Unruly fans. Chase Daniel. Did we mention unruly fans?

3. Texas. Texas converting a 4th-and-short en route to winning the inaugural Big 12 championship game over No. 3 Nebraska in 1996 is still a bitter memory.

4. Kansas State. Huskers won't forget how then-Nebraska defensive coordinator Bo Pelini gave KSU coach Bill Snyder an earful after the Wildcats' victory in 2003.

5. Florida teams. Miami because of the 1984 Orange Bowl. Florida State because of the 1994 Orange Bowl. Florida? Well, Steve Spurrier once coached there, and everybody dislikes the seemingly arrogant "ball" coach.

Five pro teams we hate

1. New York Yankees. Maybe it's the 27 titles. More likely, it's because the Yankees buy up all the talent, giving them a chance to win the World Series every year.

2. Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones is a media hound, but the real reason for the intense dislike is the nickname, "America's Team." Says who?

3. Los Angeles Lakers. As if multiple camera shots of a smug Jack Nicholson wearing sunglasses indoors isn't enough, the team seems to personify this same, me-first Hollywood attitude.

4. New England Patriots. Tom Brady is no Peyton Manning, and Bill Belichick won't win any personality awards, either.

5. Chicago Cubs. People don't hate the team as much as its fans, who seem to be everywhere thanks to WGN airing all those games.
