We welcome customers to the Journal Star Archives. Please call (402) 473-7297 for more information or to make an appointment. Please be aware that orders may not be fulfilled the same day the request is made. Fees apply to requests made by phone, mail, email, or in person. Please see details below.
What is in the archives?
- Indexed newspaper clippings from 1954 through May 1996
- Electronic archive from June 1996 through the present
- Microfilm beginning 1881 through the present (no index prior to 1954)
- Photos by Journal Star photographers dating from 1954
Are you looking for an obituary?
- June 1996 through present, $7.00 plus tax.
- Before June 1996, $10.00 plus tax
- If you do not know the date, a research of $60.00 per hour research fee (prorated), $15.00 minimum may apply.

Are you looking for a photo?
The Journal Star has photos from 1977 through the present. You will find many of them in the Photo (& more) Store. There are over 40 products, including framed prints, t-shirts, and coffee mugs. If you are looking for a photo from before July 2007, please call (402) 473-7297.

Permissions

Copyright/permission fees are for use/reproduction of photos or articles in print or online by other businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. The Lincoln Journal Star may not give permission to reuse content from The Associated Press (or other wire services), syndicated columns, or contracted reporters. Customers must contact the source directly. Lincoln Journal Star Content can be reused
in the following types of media: newsletters, newspapers, magazines, books, annual reports, brochures, political campaigns, advertising, television & radio, and online. We do not allow our content to be reprinted or used in tabloid magazines (e.g. National Enquirer). We reserve the right to refuse permission. Restrictions may apply.
- Text must be used in its entirety, unless otherwise approved. The credit must include article title, byline, and date it appeared in the Lincoln Journal Star.
- Photos may not be cropped or altered in any way.
- All text/photos are sent out in digital format either by email or on CD/DVD.
